Our dogs are not bred forever!
AKC Rules do not allow, except with special documentation, the registration of a litter out of a dam less than 8 months or more than 12 years of age at the time of mating, or by a sire less than 7 months or more than 12 years of age at the time of mating.
Female dogs begin to loose health and vitality with litter production after the age of six. But these lively, healthy, long-lived dogs can have joy-filled lifespans easily into their mid- to late-teens.
We try very hard to be responsible breeders.

With this in mind, we do have dogs in our home that are now retired from breeding, but are part of our bloodline.
(At some future point, we may have adult dogs available to other homes; dogs that are either unsuited to our breeding plan or are retired from breeding.)
Rest in Peace
12/25/2002 - 08/10/2012 Ch. Wolfman's Sweet Victory: Vickie was born December 25, 2002, and had an amazing show career before becoming a breeding mother at High Meadows Terriers. When she was officially retired from motherhood, she came to live with us until she passed away, too soon, in 2012. Vickie was mother of High Meadows Barefoot Contessa by Tamacious Rebel Rousin Rosco. Tessa was mother to our High Meadows Bonny Belle by Critterkin's Fire In The Hole At High Meadow. Both our Magaidh and Sheila are our Bonny's daughters and Vickie's great-granddaughters. Minnie, and our young Skye, are Bonny's granddaughters and Vickie's great-great granddaughters. Vickie, was my first Cairn terrier. I was privileged to have sweet Vickie as my personal companion until she passed away. Vickie was the pluckiest old lady I've ever had the pleasure to meet. She will always have a special place in my heart. Her pedigree can be viewed at Vickie (yellowbrickrdkennels.com) |
Rest in Peace 04/27/2009 - 10/23/2023 Blue Mtn Tyson: our handsome red wheaton stud dog. Tyson was born in April of 2009. We acquired him as a mature adult from my friends, Norma & Marland, cairn terrier breeders in Oregon, to our great pleasure and delight. His offspring are lovely, with excellent overall health and sturdy builds. Tyson was a charming gentleman who adored his best buddy, my son, Jonathon. Tyson loved hunting ground squirrels out in the pasture, lived for long hikes, and got totally excited when he could play in the sprinkler. Tyson was calm and courteous, the perfect home companion. Tyson didn't have a quarrelsome bone in his body and got along famously with our neutered male Jack Russell dog, Buster. Tyson never chased cats, and despite his name, never harmed a chicken. His good looks and pleasant disposition are passed on to his descendants. We kept five of Tyson's daughters here in our home. Vixen is out of Leila. Both Eilidh and Lexi are out of Cherry. Minnie is out of Magaidh. And Sheila is out of Bonny. |
High Meadows Bonny Belle Bonny was born in December of 2012, at High Meadows Terriers, a kennel which belonged to my late friend, Bobbie. Bonny's mother was called Tessa, and her father was Bic. I was blessed to bond with Bonny shortly after her birth, brought her home after she was weaned, and have been constantly delighted with my best little four-legged friend. Bonny is a cheerful, active, slightly obsessive-compulsive, and outgoing sweetheart. She is clever and easily taught. Bonny happens to be fixated on me as her personal object of adoration. Well, and her squeeky toy we have named Clifford. Bonny gets extremely excited about walking or hiking, and will pull passionately on the leash in an effort to maintain her spot at the head of any group. Bonny loved her chance in the show ring, prancing and strutting like she was born to it. Bonny won't ever pass up a chance to hunt mice, but is gently affectionate with our pet house cats. Bonny sleeps with me at night and is my constant companion during the day. Bonny is mother of our Magaidh by Chase, and mother of our Sheila by Tyson. |
RDRR Magaidh Merrilegs: our affectionate retired red-brindle lady.
Magaidh (Scottish Gaelic, pronounced Maggie) is the daughter of our beautiful Bonny and a gorgeous dog belonging to my good friend Bobbie with High Meadows Terriers. Magaidh was born here in our home, in October of 2014, and has been raised as part of our family. Magaidh has been spayed at the age of six and is officially retired. Magaidh is in love with my husband. Sad, but true. She waits at the window each evening, watching for his truck to come down the lane towards home. As soon as she catches sight of him, she rushes for the door, squealing and screaming in her eagerness to get out to welcome him home. Magaidh enjoys stealing her mama's squeeky toy (and destroying it if possible!). She loves cats and her younger puppy siblings, playing with anyone who might be inclined to play with her. Magaidh doesn't care to go to town and totally hated the show ring, but loves following her person when he goes outside, whether to cut wood or ride a bicycle. She loves ANY outdoor activity, but also enjoys cuddles on the couch with my daughter. Magaidh is also quite tolerant of being dressed in doll clothes and being groomed to excess. Magaidh is daughter of Bonny (also retired), and mother of our Minnie by Tyson. |
RDRR Leila Lyla Lou Born June of 2016, we acquired Leila from Norma and Marland at Marma's Cairn Terriers in Oregon. Leila is from their lovely Cherry and niece to their champion, Checkov. Leila's dad is also a champion, Billy, from Weippe, Idaho, from Happy Hill Cairn Terriers with Mary Francis Brown. Leila is a sweetly affectionate cuddle bug, who bumped my cat off my pillow at night. Leila also loved to run, wrestle, and rough-house with Sam Sheepdog, our Great Pyrenees girl, who is close to the same age. Leila loves everyone she meets. In fact, one of our cats, Zipporah, thought Leila a delightful companion and would curl up with her in the armchair for afternoon naps. And Leila was generous; she gave her morning biscuits to her puppies before she would eat one. Leila officially retired in October 2021 at the young age of five. Leila has been placed in a carefully screened home with a lovely family. where she is the ONLY DOG and the absolute queen of the castle. Leila is mother of our Vixen, by Tyson, and grandmother of our young Trixie. |
RDRR Viva La Vixen Valient Vixen is a rich deep red brindle girl, daughter of Tyson and Leila, born December 2017. Vixen is extremely gentle and mild tempered, very eager to please, and, for a terrier, quite submissive. Her sweetness makes her the perfect couch cuddle companion. She has every bit of her father, Tyson's, good nature and quiet confidence. Vixen also has her mother's generous spirit and adopted a schnauzer puppy. into her first litter, that was in need of a wet nurse. Vixen LOVED being a mother. She would happily nurse ANY puppy that she could coax away from any other mother. She was caught nursing her own five plus Sheila's six at one point. Eleven puppies all tucked in! Our darling Vixen officially retired in February 2024. Vixen has been placed in a screened home with a delightful single lady where Vixen is the ONLY DOG and is the Princess Royal. Vixen is mother of our Trixie, by Quin. |
